A Whale on the Move

Just a quick note to let you know that I finally finished the origami whale stop-motion video and posted it to my YouTube channel, in case you missed my announcements Friday on Facebook and Twitter.

The film is made up of 175 individual images. It actually took longer to edit together than to “film” in the first place, mostly because I’m still learning my way around Adobe Premiere Elements. I’ve got an older version, too, so some time-saving features are missing. At least, I hope they’ve been added to later versions because individually selecting a group of over a hundred items is beyond tedious. So is individually resizing them, changing their duration, etc.

This is my first ever stop-motion video. Chad’s, too. It was fun, and I look forward to doing more. I’ve already got test “footage” of a plane’s propeller spinning. I’ll work on editing that together next week.

As it says in the closing credits, the sound of the ocean is from a recording Chad made during our trip to Roanoke Island in February. The beach there is tiny, and we only knew about it because my friend Lynn told us where it was. That’s why I always say when you get someplace you’re visiting, ask the locals for the best places to go.

Sorry about the embedded video not working. I’m trying to figure out what’s up with it. In the meantime, if you click the link in the first paragraph of the post, it’ll take you to the video on YouTube.
