Invaded by Cute

Kitten season is here, and on Friday Chad and I picked up our first set of fosters for the year. We were supposed to get two siblings from a litter, but that morning Sharon texted to ask if we could take a third kitten. “If not,” she said, “I can send it back.”

Yeah, right. Like Chad and I have ever said no to taking on an extra kitten.

So, Friday after work we picked up this trio of adorable:

This is how I found them this morning. They got on Chad's lap all by themselves.

This is how I found them this morning. They got on Chad’s lap all by themselves.

From left to right, they’re Garin, Kaya, and Kova. Garin is named after Yuri Gagarin, the first man to go into space. His sisters are named after Svetlana Savitskaya and Valentina Tereshkova, who were the first women to go into space. As you can tell, they’re intrepid little explorers. Yeah, six weeks old and they’ve already figured out how to climb onto Chad’s lap. And Kaya, who is scary smart, has figured out how to go from his lap to the keyboard tray in his desk. She’s also figured out the ball-in-the-track toy, and how to get the light-up ball in it to flash. (Garin has mostly figured out how to meow and get petted.)

Of course, Kova’s pretty smart, too. While Kaya and Garin were wrestling on my lap this morning, she figured out that the power supply for Chad’s laptop is made of warm and is therefore the perfect place to take a nap.

Must be for sleeping. Is made of warm.
