Foster Kitten Update: Kova, Kaya, Picasso, and Monet

Monet

Three seems to be the magic number for Chad and me this kitten season. We started out with our three little cosmonauts, Kova, Kaya, and Garin. Not surprisingly, fluffy Miss Kova got adopted first. Not to be outdone, Kaya got a fantastic application the day after we delivered Kova to … Continue reading

(Mostly) Wordless Wednesday: Up To Date Kittens!

Kova, Kaya, and Garin got their first vaccination (and second deworming) tonight, so you know what that means. Yep! They get to go to their first adoption fair this Saturday. And Sunday, too, of course. Which means YOU can finally get to meet them! It also means that instead of … Continue reading

(Mostly) Wordless Wednesday: Sleepytime Garin

My friend Azizah Asgarali, aka @gourmetpens, has a regular feature on her blog called Wordless Wednesday. It’s usually pics of her gorgeous cats. I thought it might be something nice to start doing on my blog. After all, with 6-week-old kittens in the house, we have no shortage of cat … Continue reading

Remembering Akhe

I’ll never forget the day we got the call about fostering Akhe. Jennifer, a volunteer on ARFP‘s rescue team, told us that she needed a foster home for two young kittens, about ten weeks old. “They’re pretty scared – not feral, just timid, so they’ll need a lot of socialization. … Continue reading

What Can $5 Do? More Than You Might Think.

If you’ve been keeping track, then you know that I’ve raised $490 in Human Race donations so far. That puts me just $10 from my goal.

When I first posted about walking in the Human Race to raise money for ARFP, I said that I have over 100 followers on Twitter, so if each one donated just $5 I’d easily make my goal. Now I just need two. Continue reading

The Addictive Nature of Birdwatching

I’m not a bird person. It’s not that I don’t like birds. It’s just that I’ve never been very interested in them, beyond pointing out hawks sitting on poles by the highway, or looking for owls in the trees by my old house, or being entranced as a massive flock of unspecified birds wheels left and right, up and down in perfect choreography (which is, if you’ve never seen it, amazingly cool to watch). Continue reading

Freya Update: Biopsy Results

We got Freya’s biopsy results today, and everything looks good. The pathologist found no sign of cancer, so that’s a huge relief. The inflammation also appears to be a recent change — no sign of scarring, which apparently would have made it harder to get Freya back to 100%. So … Continue reading

Freya Update #2 + Birdfeeders

We called our vet this morning because Freya hasn’t eaten much since we got her home. Just a little canned food Thursday evening and a few bites of dry yesterday. And she isn’t simply not eating. She’s running away from the food. Set her down front of it, and she’ll … Continue reading

Freya Update #1

Those of you who follow me on Twitter have heard a little about this, but I thought I’d do a full blog post to bring everyone up to speed on Freya. Continue reading
